Emergency 101 Plan + Drill

You can never be too prepared for an emergency. Emergencies can range anywhere from a health-related incident/accident to natural disasters. In the event that an emergency is to take place, here are some tips to get yourself and your loved ones prepared. If you have a family, start running drills with your family members and especially your kids. Now would be a good time to come up with safe words and evacuation plans so that you're entire household is on the same page.

Emergency Plan

1. Have an emergency plan in place for you and your family

  • First things first, sit with your family and loved ones and have a discussion with them if there is ever a time that danger arrives.
  • Be prepared for any emergency. Sit down with your family and decide what you will do in an emergency, where you will go, and how you will get in contact with each other. Keep a copy of this plan in your emergency supply kit or another safe place where you can access it in the event of a disaster.
  • Write down where your family spends the most time, such as work, school, and other places you frequent.
  • Make sure the designated places all have a site-specific emergency plan that you and your family know. Keep this between you all.
  • You should also have specific places in your home where you know to meet if danger ever arises.

There should be designated places in your home where you specifically place your emergency kits, family emergency plan, and/or self-defense tools.
